These are my latest "quick knits". Baby socks. Pattern is Baby to Toddler Sized Socks and yarn is Tofutsies. Really easy pattern, and I was able to finish them in a few days.
So I had planned on getting up early again today to get a run in, and again, it didn't happen. By the time I got up and out the door, it was 9 AM and already 70 degrees in the shade. I still managed to do 3 miles, but probably couldn't have done anymore. The heat was just killer, and just goes to show that I'm really going to have to learn how to run in the heat. I haven't run in a few days (really tight hamstring from my last run) so I just wanted to get out there and not necessarily push any limits, so that mission was accomplished. Three miles is three miles.
Thank you to everyone who left comments about the Garmin. I'll remember now that as I'm running, the pace reading may not be so accurate. That's OK because the end result is all I need.
Hope everyone has an awesome week!

It's tough to get out in the heat sometimes! Great job on getting in three!
Cute socks! There's still snow on the ground here in Winnipeg but the real problem with running is because of the ice; it's so slippery out. But running in that kind of heat that you've got sure is tough... don't forget to keep hydrated:)
The best heat advice I've found is to stick a wound up wet bandanna in the freezer for a couple hours and then put it around your neck. Just be careful not to get it so cold it gives you a headache. Judicious re-wetting throughout the run helps too :-)
It takes a while to acclimate but don't give up. I've also got to second the hydration comment. I have a little cool bandana thing I got at Walmart that has some kind of absorbent particles in it and you put it in cold water and it sucks the water up. It stays cool wrapped around your neck. You might want to find one of those. Have a great day!
3 miles IS 3 miles - that's a decent run :) I thought about you on my long run this weekend when I ran outside in 40 degree weather with two shirts and a fleece vest hehe. I've bee dealing with the cold by running on a treadmill - maybe that'd work for you with the heat ;) It kept me on schedule, though I'm not a particular fan of running in one place.
Great job!
Running in the heat is gross. I am not looking forward to my area's hazy, hot and humid summers. It is nasty! Love the socks, I just started a pair of Monkeys in Tofutsie. I'm liking that yarn! My color is pink and white. I'm calling them my Peppermint Monkeys.
Girl, you ran a 5K - that's great!
Remember back when you first signed up for a fun run a 5K seemed like forever? Man I do!
So instead of thinking that your ran "just 3 miles" think of it as you ran a race!
And for this race, it was voluntary, you didn't have to pay $20, and you don't have to find room in a drawer for another cotton t-shirt you'll hardly wear.
Good job on running your
5K!
Dang, still jealous of the 70's in the shade LOL
Ooohhh Garmin. I have such a love/hate relationship with it. LOL
sometimes when Im really tired I imagine you running and knitting SIMULTANEOUSLY and it makes me laugh.
M.
Those sock are so cute! what a nice talent, and hobby!
glad you got the three in with the heat, and smart on listening to that hamstring.
I feel your pain! And I can so commiserate with the heat that starts so early! I hate it-and I don't think I'll ever get used to it!!!
I must learn how to knit!
