Turkey Bacon anyone?

This morning, I reluctantly had turkey bacon for breakfast. I've decided to make changes to what I eat in baby steps - brown rice instead of white, making sure the bread I buy doesn't have high fructose corn syrup, etc. I've already switched to turkey sausage (which by the way is very yummy) and so this morning I tried turkey bacon. Would you believe it actually tasted pretty good? Definitely not as good as "real bacon" but I think I could get used to it.
I haven't run or knit since Sunday, and have been up past midnight each night trying to get a work project done. I hate when life gets in the way. Since it's already 75 degrees here, I doubt I'll be going out for a run later, but we'll see. I'm still tossing around the idea of signing up for the lottery for the Nike Women's Marathon. I suppose I have nothing to loose right? Just means that if I don't get it, I'll have to have another half as a back up plan, since I want to make sure I reach my goal of running a half before 2009. Hope everyone's having a good week!

I always eat turkey bacon when I eat bacon. I really like it. I think you acquire a taste for it over time and I actually think it is good.

I think those baby-step changes make a huge difference... slowly, you're adding healthier things to your body without thinking too hard about it. The hardest thing I think is portion control.... oh well.

I bought turkey bacon once and then forgot to try it before it went bad... hahah. But baby steps is all it takes ;-)

But i do LOVE the morningstar farms sausage patties. mmmmmmmm.

I wish I wasn't allergic to brown rice. I love the taste and would love to incorporate it into the diet but I get sick for a day or two after I eat it. Boo.

What Carla said. Dude. Morningstar anything is awesome. I eat the veggie sausage patties (one of the few processed vegan foods I allow myself) and seriously they are BETTER than regular sausage anything I've ever tasted. Have you tried tempeh bacon? Delish.

I never can get turkey bacon to cook correctly. I'll stick with the morning star sausages or "real" bacon...but I usually settle for none at all.

As far as the Nike 1/2, I agree with pkpwv --
JUST DO IT!!!

(If that's not enough motivation -- think of the *bling*!!)

The next step is to go for the boca burger breakfast links. I'm not sure what they're made of, but it's definitely not meat :-)

We love turkey bacon at our house. Good stuff! Ground turkey (seasoned with oregano, garlic and basil!) is great in spaghetti, too.

Ooooh, and go for the Nike Women's Half - what a fun, powerful goal!

I have gotten to the point where I actually prefer turkey bacon. Less greasy, but still delicious.
