My foot was acting up again this morning, so instead of going out for a run, I played it safe and decided to make today a rest day. On Sunday, I went out for a slow two miles and had no pain at all so I know the foot is on the mend - slowly but surely. I may have to move a couple of my weekly runs indoors to the treadmill. That run on Sunday morning was at 5:45 AM and it was already 90 degrees.
I decided to do week 3 of the push up challenge again because I didn't feel like I was ready enough to progress to the next week. The big jump in push ups from week 2 to week 3 really did me in. My arms are still sore from yesterday but I'm already starting to see some development in my triceps.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

I am glad your foot felt better!
Since you're injured, I'll do hill training for you, okay?
Pretty soon I may have to bite the bullet and start on this pushup challenge thing too....
Way to stick to it!
90 degrees at 5:45am? Oh, say it isn't so!
I'm not going for 100 pushups, but I think it may be helpful to print out the training schedule. I don't seem to be holding myself accountable enough with the practicing, so I need something tangible to keep me on track!

I am glad the foot is on the mend and I am glad you took today off. Best not push it. I feel your pain, I am going through the same thing right now.
That is so awesome that you are seeing result from the push up challenge.
(looks forward to the pics of your emergingbulging triceps)
go you for listening to your bod!
so often less is more.
Miz.
Ok your weather is worse! But no matter-running in the heat SUCKS!!! I feel your pain!!!
Listen to your body! If your foot hurts don't run! If it's hot as hell-don't run!! HA HA!
OMG what the heck did I get myself into with this challenge LOL You're scaring me! I'll be working this thing for 2 years hehe.
Good idea to take things slow and help your body out. And great work on the push ups!
Take care of that foot...hope you're back up and "running" soon!
Glad you are seeing some improvement. Hope it keeps moving that way for you!
I am SKEERED of the P-U challenge. It is something I will be doing though.
Wow!! A hundred push ups?? I just got back from a "No Limits" class at the gym after a 6 month hiatus. I did 20 of those darn things and my arms are going to fall off! You're awesome...
It is difficult for me to listen to my body and rest, sometimes I pay for it!Good move on your part
The challenge certainly is, well, challenging!
Ran the other day at 4.45pm but it was a lot cooler more like 8degrees c. Have also moved to the treadmill for opposite reasons. Hope the foot continues to help. Will try out the pushup challenge.
Take it easy on the foot. Keep up the push-ups. I'll have another push-up contest in a month or so to test you guys out.
Good job on the challenge and adapting it to your needs. When I reassessed before week 3 I was a level lower than the previous weeks. It is all good though.
On your shoes/foot pain- did you get shoes that help with pronation? I wear a neutral shoe, but used to wear one that wasn't made for how I run and would have pain after long runs. Since I got the new shoes, totally pain free. Just something to think about.
Hope the foot feels 100% very soon.
I'm not attempting that push-up challenge yet. I'm too much of a wuss right now. I also really don't want to know how awful my upper body strength is yet so I will continue to live in blissful ignorance for a little while longer. :)
Hope that foot heals quickly, although that is a stubborn injury and could take longer than you might think. I had to rethink the week 3 plan as well. No way could I do the number required. And then somehow I got goofed up on W2D2 column 2 and ended up doing about 10 more total than I needed to! I am seeing some improvement on strength and improved muscle tone. It isn't transferring into any gains in swim time however. And yes, I hear the temperatures there have been brutal.
Now that my July marathon is over, I'm going to go to the doctor and see about the foot injury I think I got during the marathon in Feb. At first I thought it was just soreness because, duh, I had just run 26 miles. By the time it didn't really go away, I didn't want to risk the doctor telling me no running. But now it's time... we runners sure are crazy, aren't we?
Thanks for talking about the 100 pushups. I need a pushup program in my life!
