The weekend went by too quickly for me. I did an 8 miler on Saturday (my first 8 miler ever!) and decided to run it on some hills. Boy were my hamstrings feeling it. Like POM, I think I'm officially in the "hungry all the time" phase of training. I think I ate everything in sight this weekend: pizza, a cheeseburger, fries, and cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. When you are in training, how do you manage to eat enough and not gain weight? I haven't stepped on the scale in a few weeks. Maybe I should put the scale away all together until after my half marathon. :)
The rest of the weekend was filled with knitting (I'm almost done with my Wollmeise socks and I started the clapotis) and a Battlestar Gallactica marathon. I'm only on season 3 so no spoilers please! I never thought I'd like a sci-fi series, but the character development and plot on this one hooked me.
Have a great week!

Whoa!! That is not like you to eat all of that!
You know I don't gain during training but I can't ever lose either. It's hard to balance the calories you need with what you are burning. Just put the scale away is my vote! You are doing something great for your body!
Hey, I'm trying to Just add a few pounds of muscle instead of losing actual weight. Yes, I ate two cheeseburgers last week too. But, this week, I won't!!
attempting the six small meals a day w/ tons of PROTEIN!
Good luck on the training.
Congratulations on the 8 mile run! That's great.
I understand the hungry all the time thing. What I try to do is not go out to eat. I make much healthier choices in my house than I do when I am out.
I have never gained during training, but I have read that many people do.
Congrats on the 8-miler!
I'm hungry all the time too. To put it mildly, I'm not handling it well. I'll eat anything that's put in front of my face these days, which often means lots and LOTS of junky foods.
I need to get back to my veggies, STAT!
If you figure out the miracle strategy of not overeating and gaining weight during training, let me know. I'm getting desperate over here.
Way to go on the 8 miles!!
Congrats on your 8 miles! That's awesome!
I'm SO looking forward to the eat-everything phase of training. Those will be the best days of my life for sure.
yum cheesecake! Congrats on your first 8 miler!! =)
Yay for your 8 miler. I am convinced that 8-9 miles is THE.BEST.EVER distance to run. My favorite by a long shot. Hope you enjoyed it. :)
Ohhh good!! It's always nice to have peeps who are just as hungry as me ;-) Now I don't feel so bad hehe.
YAY on the 8 mile mark!!! I go through the eating thing once in a while when I change things up but never like the first few weeks I started at the gym. It was like I could never get enough in me at that point.
The socks are beautiful and your dogs are adorable!
Glad to see some people are getting in some longer runs! I have been sucking in that area! :)
Congrats on the 8 miler! Are you in the SF area? If so, you should run with Nike!
Hill training is going to help you so much because there are some serious hills in the Nike Half - so keep it up!
And nope, you don't have to worry about any train cars holding you up during your half - I think I just have bad luck.
Battlestar Galactica rocks! I've been watching it since the beginning so I wont say a word! I love it and I'm so bummed that this is the last season!
Way to go on the 8 miler!!! I hope it felt wonderful!!!
I say shove scale into closet.
enjoy the training.
the process of it all.
the noshing :)
the scale will be there later.
but we all know what I think :)

Nice job on the 8 miler! I have no advice on the weight gain while training. I think I gained more weight training for a marathon than I did when I was pregnant.
Gerat job on the 8 miler! Wasn't too bad, eh?
I have to be careful cuz I gained way too much on my first marathon. I am doing good so far. I let myself eat more, but only in the mornings. Weird, but it works. I have actually dropped about 2 lbs this training season.
(Oh, except for the 2 red velvet cupcakes I just ate)
Good going on your 8 mile run! Way too go!!
Lots of fresh veggies and fruit..LOTS! Protein, as in protein shakes, peanut butter, fish, oh and dates, dried apricots, legumes....it's all good!
I haven't been in that hungry all the time phase in a while but it can be kind of fun. I just eat with reckless abandon. The most I've gained during those phases would be just a pound or two, if that. I figure its my body's way of trying to catch up to all of the activity its doing.
Congratulations on your 8 miler!
We're diving into watching The Tudors, for a change of pace instead of crime dramas and such. It's making me wish I could remember more about history - and sad that I don't recall more, since I was an art history major! not too into Sci-Fi anymore, as I grew up with a Trekkie for a dad.
Enjoy your projects! And I'll try to get a photo of the quilt in progress up for you sometime soon. You'll need some shades - it is BRIGHT!
Great job on your longest run ever. It's been a very long time since I've run 8 miles!
Ditto on the congrats on running 8 miles. I remember the first time I did that (oh...so long ago...maybe it was back in MARCH)...I couldn't believe I did it at the time...
Also agree w/those who say don't worry about the weight thing. Enjoy the training.
Congrats on the 8 miles!!
And don't feel bad about being hungry all the time...at least you have an excuse (training) ~ I am a pig for no good reason! :)
Great job on getting those miles in! You're on a roll! The hardest thing about endurance training is controlling your appetite. On the one hand, you are hungry but then tend to justify eating anything you want with "I just ran ___ miles." On the other, you get into a habit that continues even when not training. It happens ALL the time. So allow yourself one indulgence and then stick to a sensible diet otherwise. Just increase good calories or eat good meals more often. That will help control the urge to splurge.
Good job with the running!
Great job on your long run. In terms of eating and running, I only wish I knew the answer to this!
Hey, I'm eating everything in sight too! But, uh, yeah, uh, no runs for me...just the eating part. LOL.
Congrats on your longest run to date, that's awesome. I think the "hungry all the time" phase in just that, a phase. You'll get out of it as you run more and see the lbs quickly come off.
I sure don't have an answer to that eating question. If you figure it out, please let us know...
Way to go on your first 8-miler! Soon you'll be hitting double digits!
For me, the trick is to munch on really healthy foods - fresh fruit, vegetables, etc. BUT after my long run, I will splurge on whatever I want. Enjoy that pizza and fries!
